Greyhound Racing Has a Drug Problem

Kiowa Try Thelma tested positive for cocaine in February 2015.

Over the past two years there have been 75 documented drug violations in the American greyhound racing industry, including violations in every racing state. The vast majority of these drug cases resulted in fines or suspensions.
These are powerful drugs that can harm greyhounds, and we should all be concerned about this constant drum beat of drug positives. These drug violations also call into question the integrity of dog race bets being made across the country.

Greyhound racing in the United States has a drug problem that just won't go away.

  1. Drugging animals to race them is wrong on many counts! It's bad for the animal first and most important. It also makes for very dishonest race. This practice must stop along with greyhound racing.

  2. Thank you for your important work to bring justice to these beautiful animals. Our family has witnessed the effects of this abuse. We lost two handsome greys to cancer due to chemical exposure. It needs to stop. People claim ignorance, but with articles like this, there is no excuse. Animals cannot be abused for the pleasure of humans, and for financial gain. It breaks my heart. Again, thank you. There is a special place in heaven for you.
