My greyhound is still recovering from the horrible experience he went through as a racing dog (he raced in Ireland, but it's similar conditions to the USA). The industry is too full of mixed-up incentives for the dogs to be cared for well.
Also, the appeal to consumerism is just icky. I don't own my dog because I like buying stuff-- I don't even buy him stuff because I like buying stuff. I buy him stuff because I *gasp* am caring for his needs like a responsible person, and greyhounds happen to have lots of needs (apparently the racing folks think we put coats on the dogs for our amusement, not because they, y'know, might get cold or anything).S.B. Lies are the only way they can survive. The question for me is, how much worse will it get before it gets better? Unfortunately, I suspect it never get better until all the tracks are closed, or at least dwindled to the point that people ignore the owners.

At least, Carey, the Greys (and us) have you and Grey2K to make it happen. Fantastic work, and Godspeed to us all in this endeavor.Eric McDonaldnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7779555146664298023.post-20820385098112992972012-02-18T13:44:22.322-05:002012-02-18T13:44:22.322-05:00My first greyhound was from NGAP...they are a grea...My first greyhound was from NGAP...they are a great group, and Mr. Wolf is a staunch GREYHOUND advocate...not for people, or the industry, but for the DOGS...as the industry like to say it is, but is not, really.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
